RP-MILF talks in Malaysia April 16
The government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front will finally meet in Kuala Lumpur April 16. Chief government negotiator Silvestre Afable announced it after meeting for four hours with MILF Chairman Al Hadj Murad in
Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao. To be tackled at the forthcoming negotiation is the issue of ancestral domain, which includes territorial coverage of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. It is considered the most important and most contentious issue in the peace talks which began in 2001.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, on hearing the good news, vowed anew to bring about lasting peace and development in Mindanao to enable the people to enjoy a better life.
