The Philippine American Foundation for Charities, Inc., in keeping with its mission of enhancing the lives of the Filipino-American community in the greater Washington, D.C. area, has announced the "2007 PAFC "Dakila" Achievement Awards,* a program that will select from the community's nominations, outstanding men and women who represent the best examples of Filipino and Filipino American perseverance, drive and success.
PAFC said non-Filipinos may also receive
the award if they have substantially contributed to the advancement and
improvement of the Filipino American community. These outstanding individuals
become role models and inspiration to all of us and leave a legacy behind that
our youth could emulate.
Named after the Filipino word for
“greatness” the “Dakila” Award reflects the awardees’ outstanding contributions
to the Filipino-American community and to the mainstream American community.
It symbolizes the awardees, innate
qualities that have molded them into exemplary human beings. Awards will
be given in the following areas: Arts & Culture, Business Leadership,,
Civic Leadership, community Service, Education, Health Services, Writing &
Journalism and Youth Leadership The awards will be presented at a Luncheon on
Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the J.W. Marriott, Washington , DC.
