Letters to the Editor....
Thank you, Jon
Dear Editor,
Please thank Jon Melegrito for the literary masterpiece about the new open, curtainless windows of his home! That is how we have it in the Philippines, and we love it! We watch the world go by, allow the sun and wind freely enter, hear the birds sing outside the window and when the chimes ring with the breeze, we say, “An angel is passing by !” In 2006, may our lives be open windows through which God’s grace will freely pass to bless other folk.

Congratulations
Dear Sir:
Congratulations to the volunteer staff of the Manila Mail for publishing a quality newspaper. Being an avid reader of your newspaper for the past five years, I also noticed that you have been getting more and more advertisements every issue. Keep up the good work.

Bastos
Dear Tsismoso:
An item in your column, Manila Mail Jan. 15 is “bastos” (improper, to put it mildly). I am referring to an item in the latter part of your column in Tagalog. I don’t think it is appropriate to use such a quip considering that even children read the newspaper. How, for instance, will a mother translate that portion in Tagalog to her children? I hope you will be more careful next time.

Why you anti-GMA
Sir:
In almost every issue of the Manila Mail, stories about President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo are always negative, putting her in a very bad light. Recently, you also came out with an editorial asking the United States to withdraw support for her administration. You cited the fact that the Filipino people, in a recent survey, want her out.
Now, let us supposed that she is kicked out. Who will replace her, Vice President Noli (Kabayan) de Castro? Senate President Franklin Drilon? Former President Fidel V. Ramos who is acting like the kingmaker of the Philippines.
Nowhere have you come up with a possible solution to the problem facing the Philippines today.
Criticism must be constructive, not destructive.
