Around DC: DC Accountants in Canada meet

The officers of the Filipino American Institute of Accountants of Metro DC (formerly AFAI) recently attended the 21st Annual Convention of the National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accountants in Toronto. The three-day program included “A Welcome Night” (Boat Cruise),

“Talent Night” (“Paligsahan” Night) and “Presidents’ Gala Night”.  The Washington DC group who were at the convention were:  Al Trapal (current FAIA President), Klaus Buntua, Ellen Myint, Bobby and Nina Tamayo, Mike and Chris Banagan, Dave (in-coming FAIA President) and Francine Pagsibigan, Bong and Josephine Pangilinan, Ed and Virgie Aznar and Angel and Ming Bachini.

The most exciting part of the program was the Talent Night where the different chapters showcased their prepared number, mostly song and dance numbers. This time, the Washington DC group came prepared with “Ako Ay Pilipino” theme (I choreographed this number). They won with the other two groups. Their presentation was the most popular and heavily favored that night. Clearly they were Da Best. Next year, the FAIA will host the convention in Washington, DC. At the convention, Bobby Tamayo was elected the Vice-President for Internal Affairs while Francine Pagsibigan, the Auxiliary President. The lifetime councilors from the D.C. group were Klaus Buntua, Bobby Tamayo, Chris Banagan and Angelo Bachini.
