DANBURY, Connecticut - A 64-year-old Filipino-American seamstress and grandmother, who was known for helping others, was repeatedly stabbed to death on Aug. 24 in her Broad Street home by a Filipino-American homeless man she had been helping, Connecticut authorities
said.
The body of Fe Sampedro Cruz, a well-liked dressmaker in a quiet residential neighborhood and a devout ehovah's Witness, was found by police who stormed the house after receiving reports that an armed man was inside. They also found the distraught suspect, Joselito Litto
Estrada,51,side. A SWAT team reportedly
used stun grenades to disorient Estrada, pulled Cruz’ body out of the house,
and ordered Estrada out with his hands up.
He reportedly did not resist. Police said
the nature of their relationship remains unclear. Estrada, a former electrical
assembly worker with a back injury so bad he lived in constant pain, was taking
medication for that and for depression.
