Sir:

In your previous issue, you included in your editorial the statement of Gus Alzona that Filipinos who will not support his candidacy are “Crabs”.  Are they crabs?   

Why should we waste our financial resourses on Filipinos like Alzona and Jocelyne Stichberry whose chances of winning the election were between nil and zero!!!  Alzona came out last again of the five Congressional candidates.  Stichberry got stucked in last place also, of the 10 Democratic candidates.  What a pity and waste of money.  How many times did Alzona run for offices and lost?

Filipinos with common sense should donate instead to the efforts covered by the report of Ms. Solita Wakefield, the Mayon relief effort.

It is laudable to assist worthy, competitive candidates, like Kris Valderrama.  But to give money to losers is a waste of money and effort.

Sorry, I missed the February issue of the Manila Mail in which you mentioned  the P. P. Carenderia which is offering the editor and Klaus Buntua two free meals for publishing and reporting, respectively,  on the uniqueness of this restaurant near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Confidentially, just between the two of us,  what does P.P. really mean?  And why will the ‘born agains’ get mad if you mention the name of the Carenderia again? And thirdly, you are violating the rules of journalism by withholding information. Journalists are not supposed to be scared of anyone.

I will eagerly wait for your reply in your next column.

New foundation chair

Dear Editor,

 The ABS CBN Foundation has announced the appointment of local community activist, Conchita Lopez Taylor, as its Chair Emeritus as she retires as chairperson of the Foundation’s operating board. Under Taylor’s leadership, the Foundation raised more than $2.5 million to help disadvantaged children and their families, primarily in the Philippines.

The ABS CBN Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and improving the lives of abused and disadvantaged children in the Bay Area and the Philippines.

Also attached with this press release is a headshot photo of Conchita Lopez Taylor.

Color blind

Sir:

Since you started publishing the Manila Mail in full color, particularly the front page, the color photos you use are either reddish or bluish! Why? As a publisher of brochures, I know that there is either something wrong with the color separation or the printing press that you use.

Sad news from RP

Dear Bert:

By the way, Greg Cendana passed away three days ago of a heart attack.

Another fellow journalist—Boy Tugonon— also died of heart failure the other week. If you know Abraham Dingle—formerly of The Daily Mirror—he’s in serious condition. Before I left for New York last July, 3 others of our colleagues also died—Emil Macaspac, Bert Cuevas and Larry Sipin.

I plan to resume writing articles for you as soon as I get my bearings again.
