
Filams promote Medicare signing

Commissioners Vellie Dietrich Hall (Virginia) and Kenneth Wong (Pennsylvania) joined President George W. Bush and the Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao April 14 in Virginia to discuss the importance of signing up for Medicare Part before the deadline of May 15, 2006.
Alongside of 700 seniors from the Asian American and Pacific Islanders, President Bush urged seniors and communities to make sure that they were signing up for the Medicare Part D plan and shared with them all the different outlets available to them in their native languages by the United States government.
Working with the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the White House Initiative for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and Commissioners from the President’s Advisory Commission has been traveling the country calling seniors from the community to sign up for Medicare Part D. For the past few weeks, Commissioners visited the cities of Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Iowa City, and Seattle. Future visits will be conducted before May 15th to the cities of Philadelphia, Minneapolis, New York, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Tampa Bay, San Francisco, Kansas City, and Raleigh to promote Medicare Part D.
