CHICAGO, Illinois - Filipino American candidate Naisy Dolar is going into a run-off with 34-year-old incumbent Alderman Bernard Stone after the failure of Stone to garner the majority in Tuesday?s (Feb. 27) general municipal elections that saw the re-election of Mayor Richard M. Daley to a sixth term. Ms. Dolar becomes the first Filipino American and possibly the first Asian American aldermanic candidate to go on a run-off election. Alderman is equivalent to a Manila councilor.

Stone garnered 5,059 votes or 48.27 percent while Ms. Dolar collected
2,958 or 28.23% votes, the second highest total of votes.
