U.S. News: Brownback harnesses IA Filam leader

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA- U.S. Senator Sam Brownback announced a new addition to his Iowa campaign. Emma Nemecek has been hired to serve as Southeast Iowa Field Representative. Nemecek, a Linn County Resident, ran for the Iowa House of Representatives against Ro Foege in 2006. She is Filipino native, born into poverty in Basilan City, Philippines, an area fraught with political and religious conflict under the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos.

After fleeing the post-Marcos Philippines, Nemecek made her way to the United States. She is chair of the Iowa chapter of the National Federation of Filipino American Republicans and former president of the Cedar Rapids Filipino American Association. Nemecek is also a member of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women. She currently lives in Mount Vernon with her husband Terry, a life-long resident of Linn County and owner of Nemecek Electric. Nemecek will work with the Iowans for Brownback Political Director and statewide Field Director to build grassroots support for Brownback in the 15 counties of the Iowa Second Congressional District.
