BANAUE – Mrs. Linda Campbell, the mother of slain US Peace Corps volunteer Julia Campbell, has pledged support for the put up of a tourism information center in Banaue, Ifugao. Banaue Mayor Lino Madchino said the family of the late Peace Corps volunteer vowed they would help the local government in putting up the information center, where a marker dedicated to the late Campbell would also be set.
The family said they would help solicit funds for the construction of the building,” Madchino told reporters in an interview. Linda and daughter Geary were in the province recently to attend the hearing on the murder charges filed against Juan Duntogan, the primary suspect in the killing of Julia. The unused reward money amounting to US$10,000, which was supposed to be given to anyone who could pinpoint the suspect, would also be used in the construction of the planned one-storey tourist information center, according to Madchino.
