NORTH COTABATO - Governor Manny Pinol has received a plaque of appreciation from Executive Director Fe del Rosario of the United Church of Christ’ Davao city social concerns foundation for his support of Operation Smile.
“We are happy that Governor Pi±ol shares our belief that we have within our grasp the ability to change the future of a disfigured child and by doing so, we demonstrate that involvement creates change,” del Rosario said. “Aside from the financial support he has extended to us, he also sent the most number of patients, not to mention that he is the only governor in the entire Mindanao who strongly supports the program,” she added.
Minda RDC chair removed by GMA
GENERAL SANTOS CITYPresident Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo removed South Cotabato Gov.
Daisy Avance-Fuentes as chair of the Regional Development Council (RDC) for
Central Mindanao in a move that was seen as a retaliation for the governor’s
support of Ms Arroyo’s impeachment. Hadja Sittie Mariam Lim, director of the
National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in the region, said that in
an order dated Jan. 25, Ms Arroyo named Koronadal City Mayor Fernando
Miguel as the new RDC chair.
